ÑÕÉäÍ̾« still retains its founders’ beliefs in equality and its early mission of ensuring that students have every encouragement and advantage to fulfil their potential.
UC is generally defined as place where everyone knows and looks out for
each other. We have a lot of rural students, who particularly love that
we aren’t too formal, and our community has a strong reputation for
inclusiveness and support – valuing diversity over conformity.
College motto
Our motto ‘Frappe Fort’ was adopted by the strong-minded women who founded the College. Our biannual college magazine takes its title from our motto. Its literal translation is ‘hit hard’ but the College Council of the time preferred to interpret it as ‘What you do, do with a will’ and that remains a key message for our students today.
Over the years our students have also made this motto their own and it’s now commonly translated as ‘love, passion and die hard spirit.’
